After taking the world’s fastest shower, and Giovanni conjuring up an outfit, the two of them scrambled into her car, speeding like maniacs as they drove to the community center. Never in Josie’s life had she felt her heart pounding so loudly she could hear it in her ears, but if there ever had been a time to have a heartattack, she hoped like hell it wouldn’t happen now. Not when she was so close to success that she could taste it. Every green light was a blessing, every red light a curse, and by the time they reached the community center, she was surprised to find that her tires still had any tread left on them.

“You sure you weren’t a racecar driver in another lifetime?” Giovanni said, grinning.

“Hardly. Now let’s go.”

An unfamiliar pull tugged at Giovanni’s chest as he exited the car. She was so tense, so worried this would bomb spectacularly in her face. But she needn’t have any fear. He was here for her.

He would always be here for her.

Something about her drew him to her like a magnet. Maybe it was nothing more than a sugar addiction. But he could make her win that contest, he’d do it. He’d do anything to put a smile on her face.

With hands trembling nervously, she flinged open the trunk and started balancing two large cupcake containers in her arms.

“Here, let me help,” he offered. “Don’t need you dropping them before we even get in there.”

“Thank you. You really are amazing.”

And, with his magic touch, the whole crowd would think her cupcakes were pretty amazing, too.”

Bag and containers in hand, he rushed ahead of her, grabbing the door as she flew inside.

“Which way to the table?” he called.

“This way!”

He followed her down the corridor to the left where the hall led to a huge auditorium. There, dozens and dozens of Cherish County’s finest bakers were feverishly setting up their tables.

Well, maybe not quite feverishly. Most of them had arrived at a reasonable hour, giving themselves ample time to set up before the event got underway. But, not Josie. No, never her. She was perpetually late to everything that wasn’t strictly client-related, and would probably be late to her own funeral.

Josie came to an abrupt halt as they reached the last empty table, her breath heaving just as hard as it had been earlier… earlier when they had…

She forced the thought aside. Right now, she couldn’t afford to think about how quickly he’d made her come, when she hadn’t even felt she’d been capable of reaching orgasm in the first place. She also couldn’t think about how great his cock felt inside her.

She had to keep her mind focused. She had to win, damn it. If she had any hope of saving her business, she had to take care of business first.

Then, maybe, pleasure later.

And if this was a dream—and she sincerely hoped not—she prayed it would not be over any time soon. But, even if it was just a dream, it’d give her plenty to work with later on.
